For Handwriting Instruction
Step 1: Checklist to teachers at start of school
Adequate Not Adequate

-Chair Height
-Pencil Grip
-Pencil Position
-Good Posture
-Proper upright head position
-Student seating location in classroom
-Student able to stabilize paper with one hand while writing with other
Step 2: Intervention - Step A
-Fill out checklist above and sample of student writing
-Contact OT in building
Step 3: OT.....
- Observation of instruction of a lesson, including student participation and behavior
- Consultation with teacher for suggestions and strategies to try
-Two-week period of time given to implement strategies
-Meet together with OT to discuss success (or not) of strategies/suggestions
If not successful....
Step 4: More direct instruction with trained Ed Tech support
