Popham Colony settled at the mouth of
the Kennebec River. They found many resources such as clams, water,
fish, and oysters. They settled there for food, and transportation.
Another reason is for lumber to build their homes and for other uses.
Many of the settlers fished.
Others trapped animals. The others got Indian fur and in exchange,
they gave them uses from their new world. They made lumber industries
for their homes and transportation. They raised cows for milk, butter,
and if under extreme measures, for food.
