Since Maine is the outdoors state, it needs to have a resource to get supplies for sports such as fishing, hiking, skiing, sailing and canoeing. L.L. Bean's is the number one outdoor shopping center. It was founded by Leon Leonwood Bean in Freeport, Maine in 1912.  They also sell rain coats snowshoes, winter boots, bikes and tents.  L.L. Bean is known for its "Bean Boots."  Leon Leonwood Bean invented the Bean Boot, a lightweight boot with leather tops and waterproof bottoms.
