Blueberries: 98% of the countries blueberries are harvested in Maine and are one of Maine's largest exports.

Apples: In 1997 there were almost 1, 524, 000 bushels of apples harvested in Maine.

Potatoes: The potato is a hardy vegetable that is grown mostly in Northern Aroostook county.

Maple Syrup: Over 11 % of the countries maple syrup comes from the State of Maine. The sap from many maple trees is used to make the syrup and maple candy.

Lobster: Over 90% of lobsters sole in the United States are caught off the Maine coast! Many people travel to Maine in the summer to enjoy these tasty crustaceans. Cod, flounder, and tuna are other big catches.

Forest Products: Almost 89% of Maine is forested. Paper and pulp and lumber are products made from the trees. Maine also makes more toothpicks than any other state. The Pine Tree State produces 50 BILLION toothpicks a year!
