The Wolf on Lexer Street

Back to Evan's Readings

In the middle of the night Ben heard a howl down on Lexer St. Ben is 10 years old and he is very smart. Quickly Ben got out of bed and tiptoed over to his walkie-talkie and called Evan. He whispered ,’’ Evan I heard a wolf on Lexer St.
“I’ll call Tommy “; said Evan. Evan can track animals because he is curious about nature. Evan then called Tommy and told him “ Ben heard a wolf on Lexer St.!” Tommy answered “ OK I’ll call Nathan.”

Tommy is strong for a 10 year old. He can lift up a 97 pound kid. He called Nathan and exclaimed “ Evan says Ben heard a wolf on Lexer St.” Nathan replied “ O.K. I'll get my flashlight.”

While Nathan got his flashlight Tommy called Ben and Evan telling them to get their flashlights too. “ We’ll meet in 10 minutes at Ben’s house. Hurry! Ben has everything we’ll need” explained Tommy.

In ten minutes three of the boys had meet at Ben’s house. But where was Evan? The answer came with the sound of an alarm bell ringing two blocks away.

Each boy had one. “Sounds like Evan’s on Elburb St. “ said Nathan.

The boys ran to Elburb St. to find Evan with his bow. Only he was breathing hard and he was missing two arrows. “ What happened?” asked Nathan breathlessly. “ It came out of Fiblex St. and charged me, I shot at it but it was too fast. It ran to the Bowdoin College campus but I don’t know which way after that” trembled Evan. “ We should follow it “ Ben suggested.
“No “ said Evan, “first we should call Matt.”

Matt is Evan’s agent. Matt is a very good spy and he is also very smart. Ben called Matt.

I’m tired” complained Nathan. “ Me too” added Tommy. “O.K. O.K.’’said Evan, “But tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. meet at Furr St. “

The next day all the boys meet on Fur St. when Ben got a call from Matt asking what his mission was.
