Matthew's Non-Fiction College Back to Matthew's Readings

The first college that I am interested in is called Holy Cross College. It is located in Auburn,Mass. The reason I want to go there is because my Nana works there and I’ve heard good things about it. Another reason why I am interested in Holy Cross College is that it is in my second favorite state: Massachusetts, and it is near home. Holy Cross has a very good sports program. Another college that I am interested in is University of Maine at Orono: Go BlackBears! UMO has a very good blackbears sports program. I’d like to pump up their baseball team. I am very interested in sports. Baseball is my favorite sport. In college I plan to major in drama. I’m interested in drama because I am a fan of many actors and actresses. I really like Orlando Bloom, Dill and Cole Sprouse, and Ashley Tisdale. I also think I’m good at acting. Yesterday I was acting a part from the movie Freaky Friday with my dad, and I said “Are you using that tone with me?” I would rather be a movie actor than a soap opera actor. Another major I might pursue is geology: the study of rocks. I Iike rocks because there is a certain type of rock that only appears on me and my neighbors' property. The rock’s color is gold and silver.		I haven’t identified it yet but I’m planning on it. There is also a rock that is only found in Litchfield, Maine that my teacher Mrs. Aronson told me about. It’s called Sodalite and Litchfield is the ONLY place on the entire planet that this rock has been found! I’ve been studying rocks in my basement. I’ve found out very cool things about them, for example what the water looks like when it drips off the rock after its been left out in the rain for an entire day. Also, when you drop a certain size rock on the pavement and observe how much breaks off. The larger the rock, the smaller the piece that breaks off. I’m very close to certain that I will go to college as soon as I graduate from high school. I may not go right after high school, I may become an athlete and go to college after my career. The college that I do select will most definitely be in New England. I don’t want my mom and dad to be too lonely and worry about me if I’m too far away. On second thought, they’ll probably be on a cruise in the Caribbean. The best thing is that I have plenty of time to change my mind about my career and college choice! I just love thinking about the career options and researching different colleges.
