Susan and Lucy are crying over the dead Aslan. Mice come and nibble the cords that tie Aslan to the Stone Table. The girls hear the Stone Table snap, and Aslan comes back to life. He explains that he is not a ghost, but there is deeper magic than even the White Witch understands. The deepest magic is that when an innocent, willing victim is killed instead of a traitor that death itself will work backwards. The girls ride on his back to the Witch's home.
