Hello From The PTO

We had a great meeting on Tuesday night!  We understand how difficult it can sometimes be to fit another event into people’s tight schedules so thank you to all those who attended.  We were especially excited to see some new faces.  And to those that weren’t able to make it, don’t worry, our next meeting is just a couple weeks away and will be held on Tuesday, October 5th at 6:30 pm in the school library.  We will be offering childcare again for those that may need it.  Just contact Kristen or Tracy so we can plan accordingly.  If you can’t make the meetings, but would still like to help out, that’s ok too!  Just let us know.

At the meeting, we voted to use the money from this year’s wrapping paper sale to purchase new equipment for the playground.  The money from the past two years has paid for improvements to the grounds and the soccer field.  The playground committee is now looking into buying a play structure for the kindergarten area sometime this year.  We are looking at several playground equipment manufacturers. The decision has been made to steer away from a wooden structure for maintenance and safety compliance reasons.  Anyone interested in helping the playground committee contact Tracy.

The wrapping paper sale starts next Monday, October 4th!  Remind your friends; neighbors, co-workers and family that the sale helps pay for our playground improvements!

If you haven’t turned in orders for the Portland Press Herald fundraiser you still have another day!  Orders are now due this Wednesday September 29th. Thank you so much to all those who participated!  We will keep everyone posted on how we did and will make an announcement on Thursday as to which class earned the pizza party!

The HIS PTO will be having a joint meeting with the West Harpswell PTO this Thursday at 7:00 pm at West Harpswell School.  We will be discussing joint fundraising opportunities as well as fostering fun events that the two schools can enjoy together.  Anyone interested in attending, please contact Kristen.

If you shop at Hannaford and have earned “School Dollars”, please drop them off in the white box near the school office.  This program lasts until December and the coupons that we turn in can be used to buy materials for our school.
