School Budget – Brenda French presented the school budget as it was to be proposed
Treasurer’s & Secretary‘s reports presented and accepted for March meeting.
PLAYGROUND – Need to plan equipment installation date. Brenda is hopeful to set date in May. Possibly May 17th? Need Dave Chipman to move mulch. No source for concrete yet. Discussion regarding reuse of the old slides. It was decided to reuse them if at all possible. Brenda to check with Mr. O’Neil on slide regulations.
GARDEN CONSTRUCTION – tabled
MURDER MYSTERY DINNER – went well, per Audrey Knight. Sold out both nights. No word yet on how much money HIS PTO will receive. The distribution will happen in May.
MINI COURSES – Brenda, Whitney and Michelle planning 4 weeks on Wednesdays. Sent out note to parents for wish lists and to get presenters. What topics? Can be cooking woodworking, etc. $200 was voted for mini-courses
ROGERS FAMILY FUNDRAISER- amount raised to date $16.988.00
-The Polar Dip raised $1000
-170 Business donated
-Still receiving money
-The Anchor is running an extra large spread on the amazing effort and results of the fundraising. They are even expanding the number of pages normally printed to accommodate it in May.
-There will be an address where more donations may be sent.
-Cash was given directly to them and checks were run through the PTO treasury
GRUMBLING GRYPHONS – It was stated that the show was fabulous (great props, wonderful show, great experience, great story & costumes) and those who participated wanted to do so again. Felt it might have not gotten as much participation due to all the activities the week before for the Rogers Family Benefits. I was decided to add it to the May agenda for next year.
SECRETARY’S DAY – Gift certificate to Scarlett Begonia’s, tape dispenser, and plant for Becki. Audrey got everything and Brenda will make sure it is delivered to her.
HARPSWELL FESTIVAL - was tabled since Tracy was not present to discuss.
CITIZEN GROUP – since there is such fabulous community feeling after all of the fundraising activities for the Rogers Family, it was decided to continue the efforts.
-promote volunteerism
-really felt they made a difference
-form a committee
-Heart Pin Program was extremely successful – earmark money for future program to help others. Back orders are being filled. Need more volunteers to help Mrs. Bailey with production doing gluing and glazing, etc.
-special community spirit – don’t want to lose that
-teach kids to continue
-exploring grant programs
-Student assistance team
-Part of the PTO
-Core group – Malisa, Gina, Sherri, with Michelle & Alison (chairs)
MSMT – “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” production field trip
-school trip on June 11th – student fee of $5 – limited adult tickets –no PTO $
Field Day – June 17 - $1000 for the day, which includes T-Shirt money – want rat race
Teacher Appreciation - $1500 voted to earmark for this
Book Fair - $25 a teacher with $350 set aside for it.
Election of PTO Officers – to happen at June meeting. Whitney, Perian and Beth to discuss their possible roles for next year and present at May meeting.
