January 30, 2008

 

The Governance Sub-committee of the Lisbon/M.SA.D. No. 75 Reorganization Planning Committee (RPC) met on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Mt. Ararat Middle School in Topsham, Maine.

 

Committee members present were:  Joanne Rogers (Chair); Robert W. Hill; Dan Billings; Gina Mason and Charles Smith.

 

Also present was M.S.A.D. No. 75 Superintendent Wilhelm.

 

Chairwoman Rogers called the meeting to order during the sub-committee breakout session of the RPC.

 

The Governance Sub-committee reviewed a handout provided by Superintendent Welsh entitled “Items for Consideration Regarding Schedule of Upcoming Events.”  It was noted that a “final draft” of the Reorganization Plan should be ready by the end of the February 27, 2008, RPC meeting.  The Governance Sub-committee recommended that two public hearings be scheduled on March 15:  Lisbon, 10:00 a.m. (place to be determined) and Topsham, 1:00 p.m. in the Orion Performing Arts Center.  A brief RPC meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. on March 15th at Mt. Ararat Middle School to discuss the results of the public hearings.  The handout was discussed and annotated as follows and recommended for approval by the RPC during the January 30 meeting:

The Governance Sub-committee continued discussing the content and conduct of the public hearings and generally agreed that a PowerPoint presentation and charts with maps, demographic and financial impact charts would be helpful.  It was not determined how these informational aids would be developed, created or published.

 

The Governance Sub-committee adjourned at 8:15 p.m. to rejoin the RPC meeting.
