"Because the kids had been exposed to a multitude of problem-solving challenges and were able to talk about these different problems, they were more confident risk takers in mathematics. Because of the formatting of Math Olympiad, they were used to timed tests and when it came to the MEA's the level of stress was much lower for these students. They all thought the MEA's were easy! All students who were in Math Olympiad, met or exceeded the standards in MEA's.
Math Olympiad was by choice; it wasn't just for the top kids. I invited all who were interested to take a test in class and go through the problems together (basically they experienced a Math Olympiad session). If they thought they were interested, they were invited to be a part of the team as an after school club."
