Text Box: September 12, 1570s-1611 Henry Hudson was a sea explorer, and navigator in the 1600s. Henry Hudson was born in London, England. In 1609 Henry was chosen to find a new eastern passage to Asia. He was sent by the Dutch east India company. Henry was told to sail around the Arctic Ocean, up north of Russia to the Pacific and the far east. Henry could no longer continue his long voyage due to the hard unbreakable ice. Hearing rumors coming from from James town and John Smith, he and his crew decided to try finding a north west passage to North America.
