WOODSIDE ONE WHEELERS

For the first time ever at Woodside Elementary School, staff has started a brand new non-competitive sport! Mr.Dedek, the assistant principal, Mr.Pulsifer, the physical education teacher, created the Woodside One Wheelers.
The Woodside One Wheelers is a circus arts club. Circus arts tricks and skills include juggling, walking on a globe, unicycle riding, and other activities. Only the 5th and 4th graders can participate. There are about 40 members in the club now. Most of the members teach themselves how to do most of the tricks. Mr. Pulsifer and Mr. Dedek are also very good coaches. They are always there to spring into action just in case someone needs extra help.
Mr. Dedek has a lot of experience with circus arts. He was in second grade when he learned to ride the unicycle. He taught himself in his parents’ living room on the couch. At one point, he could ride a six foot tall unicycle while juggling clubs. Mr. Dedek was in the circus arts group, The Jim Dandies, and once was the leader of it. That’s our amazing assistant principal!
The Woodside One Wheelers will have two to four performances this year. To learn more, visit their website at www.link75.org/wds/intramurals/.

Woodside One Wheelers

This fall, unicycles rode into Woodside Elementary School, in Topsham, ME. It is because of a new program, called The Woodside One Wheelers, which teaches 4th and 5th grade students circus arts. Now it is the big thing at Woodside Elementary School.
Woodside One Wheelers was created by the Assistant Principal, Mr. Dedek, and the physical education teacher, Mr. Pulsifer. Mr. Dedek thought about starting the program late in 2005. He worked Mr. Pulsifer to start the club in October, 2006. Now about fifty kids are in the Woodside One Wheelers.
The students in Woodside One Wheelers learn skills from the new program. Some of the skills include riding unicycles, juggling, balancing poles, and other circus tricks. You can see more of the activities that the Woodside One Wheelers do at www.link75.org/wds/intramurals.
