The Primary Functional Skills Class swims once a week at the Casco Bay Area YMCA, where we work on learning how to use our bodies, and becomming more comfortable in the water. Some of are learning formal swim strokes, while some of us are learning to feel safe in the water without flotation devices. Most of all, we have FUN!

Our Adapted Swim Instructor, Barbara Linnehan-Smith, works with each of the children on many different skills, such as entering the water safely, using flotation devices properly, getting our faces wet without breathing water (UGH!), and moving through the water as well as we can.

When our lessons are done, we swim and relax in the warm water, and.....

play lots of games which help make us more comfortable in the water.

Blow Big Bubbles!

Everyone enjoys themselves at the pool.
