August 2007
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
I would like to begin by wishing you a warm welcome to your new 2nd/3rd grade classroom! I hope your summer has been adventurous, joyous and safe; something I have definitely experienced. Recently hired into MSAD 75 has been an excitement as I settle into the area with my family and begin my fourth year of teaching. Working at the elementary level has been a true passion of mine and I hope to share the excitement of learning with your child!
Our classroom is on its way to a fresh start and I hope everyone is as well. This year there will be some transitions that you may not yet have been exposed to and which include new report cards, greater responsibilities, and cooperative learning. It is in 2nd/3rd grade that we move from learning to read into reading to learn. Our schedule will be filled with a variety of integration strategies in order to learn all subjects.
I would like to see everyone off to a successful, positive and motivated year by coming to school prepared for their jobs as students. Below I have included the list of supplies that students will be responsible for. Please feel free to let be know beforehand if this is not accomplishable for you and we can make arrangements.
Two 1 to 1 ½ inch 3-ring plain hard cover binders
Box of tissues
Pencils
Glue Stick
Colored Pencils
It may also be useful for your child to have-
Scissors
Book Bag
Individual pencil sharpener
Clear water bottle
Black and white marble composition journal
Throughout the year I would like to keep everyone involved in their child’s success through continual open lines of communication. This provides everyone with answers to questions, accommodations for your individual child, and a positive learning environment. With that said, please feel free to contact me at the school or email me at reevesw@links75.org any time.
I hope that together we can make this school year rewarding and fulfilling. Lastly, welcome to 2nd/3rd grade.
Kindly,
Mrs. Reeves
As stated before, I welcome you to visit our classroom before school starts as we get geared up for a new year.
