File: KCD – Public Gifts/Donations To The Schools
The M.S.A.D. No. 75 Board of Directors may accept or reject, on behalf of the school district, any bequest or gift of money or property for a purpose deemed suitable by the Board in accordance with state law. All gifts/donations shall be accepted in the name of the school district and become the property of the school district. Donors may designate gifts/donations to individual schools or for a specific purpose, if specified by the donor in writing.
The M.S.A.D. No. 75 Board of Directors is under no obligation to replace a gift if it is destroyed, lost, stolen or becomes worn out. Gifts/donations may not be accepted if they involve a cost for maintenance or installation. If installation is required, the gift/donation shall be installed under the supervision of school district personnel. No gifts/donations shall be accepted by the Board without consultation with appropriate district department heads or administrators.
The M.S.A.D. No. 75 Board of Directors will officially acknowledge the acceptance of gifts/donations at a Board meeting and thank the donors in writing. The Board will notify a donor or their representative of acceptance or rejection of the donor’s gift/donation within 10 days after the meeting in which it is voted upon by the Board.
The Superintendent shall implement any administrative procedures necessary to carry out this policy.
